Connector assembly

The LabMate supply connects to the tower through a coaxial high voltage cable with a central conductor, insulation, and a grounded outer shield. The shield helps reduce capacitive coupling and electrical noise while providing a grounded barrier around the high voltage path. Proper grounding and installation are required.

Explore polymer fiber formation with a rotating collection surface

SpinSpray Lab 10 — Rotary Collector brings a syringe-pump tower, an adjustable-speed drum collector, and a LabMate power supply together in a benchtop research system. Choose this Lab 10 configuration when collector motion is part of the experiment.

At a glance: Adjustable, regulated +10 kV · Single syringe pump · Adjustable-speed drum collector · LabMate power supply included

Why choose SpinSpray Lab 10 - Rotary Collector?

Add collection speed as an experimental variable

Rotate the drum as fibers accumulate and adjust its speed to study how collector motion affects deposition. This configuration gives you a moving collection surface for fiber-mat development.

Adjust voltage and fluid delivery

The included LabMate 10 — Positive, Local Control provides regulated output adjustable from 0 to +10 kV. Pair voltage adjustment with syringe-pump flow control to investigate the processing conditions for your formulation.

A compact pump designed for high voltage

Spruce Science designed the syringe pump for integration into high voltage experiments. Its compact, insulated construction allows the needle electrode to connect directly to the syringe. This short fluid path reduces the sample volume needed to fill external delivery tubing and keeps more of your formulation available for the experiment.

Research applications

How the process works

The syringe pump feeds solution toward the needle. An electric field between the liquid and grounded collector draws out a charged jet. A suitable polymer formulation can stretch into fibers as solvent evaporates; under electrospraying conditions, the liquid breaks into droplets instead.

Collector rotation influences how material accumulates. Fiber size, alignment, and mat uniformity also depend on the formulation and operating conditions, so they must be evaluated experimentally.

How does collector rotation affect fiber alignment?

Collector motion can influence how fibers accumulate and orient on the drum. The result depends on surface speed, jet behavior, and the formulation. Adjustable rotation lets you investigate this relationship for your material system.

Need a higher voltage range or collector translation?

Explore SpinSpray Lab 30 for regulated output up to +30 kV and a rotating collector with linear motion in an enclosed workspace.

Laboratory setup and safe operation: High voltage and stored electrical energy can cause serious or fatal injury. Use trained personnel, proper earth grounding, suitable barriers, and ventilation appropriate to your solvents. Switch off the system and verify discharge before accessing electrical connections or the collector. Follow the operating manual and your laboratory's safety requirements.
