The syringe pump feeds liquid to the needle, where the electric field can draw it into a charged jet. With a suitable polymer formulation, the jet stretches and solidifies into fibers as solvent evaporates. Under electrospraying conditions, the liquid breaks into droplets, which may dry into particles or form a deposit.
