A practical starting point for charged-liquid experiments

SpinSpray Starter 20 combines adjustable syringe-pump delivery, a height-adjustable flat collector, and an integrated high voltage source in a compact enclosure for feasibility testing and supervised laboratory education. The high voltage source is unregulated, nominally around +20 kV. Its output can vary between units and between runs. Choose this platform for exploratory work; choose a SpinSpray Lab system when regulated, adjustable voltage is an experimental requirement.

At a glance: Unregulated output, nominally +20 kV · Adjustable fluid delivery · Height-adjustable flat collector · Compact enclosure

Why choose SpinSpray Starter 20?

Explore the process with a focused setup

The system brings together the core hardware for initial electrospinning and electrospraying experiments. Its value-oriented design provides a practical way to assess a material concept and identify the controls you may need for further development.

Adjust fluid delivery and collection distance

Adjust liquid delivery at the syringe pump and change the flat collector height to vary the needle-to-collector gap. These controls let you explore the effects of fluid feed and collection distance while working with an unregulated high voltage source.

Observe fibers and sprays

Investigate fiber formation with suitable polymer solutions, or explore droplet deposition under electrospraying conditions. The same charged-liquid principle supports both processes, with the formulation and operating conditions determining the result.

Fit the experiment into a compact workspace

The enclosure measures approximately 10.5 x 10.5 x 16.5 inches (267 x 267 x 419 mm), bringing the core components together in a small footprint.

Research applications

How the process works

The syringe pump feeds liquid to the needle, where the electric field can draw it into a charged jet. With a suitable polymer formulation, the jet stretches and solidifies into fibers as solvent evaporates. Under electrospraying conditions, the liquid breaks into droplets, which may dry into particles or form a deposit.

Formulation, fluid delivery, voltage, and collection distance determine the result. Changing between fiber and droplet formation may require adjustments to both the solution and the process.

Can I set the voltage as I would on a LabMate supply?

Starter 20 does not provide a regulated voltage setpoint. Its nominal +20 kV output can vary between units and runs. Choose a SpinSpray Lab model if setting and maintaining voltage is central to your experiment.

Laboratory setup and safe operation: Starter 20 requires the same rigorous high voltage practices as other laboratory electrospinning systems. High voltage and stored electrical energy can cause serious or fatal injury. Use trained personnel, proper earth grounding, suitable barriers, and ventilation appropriate to your solvents. Switch off the system and verify discharge before accessing electrical connections or the collector. The enclosure alone does not establish solvent containment or fire protection. Follow the operating manual and your laboratory's safety requirements.

Explore your material concept

Choose Starter 20 for an accessible first step into laboratory electrospinning and electrospraying. If you are unsure whether unregulated output suits your project, tell us what you want to observe or measure.

SpinSpray Starter 20 is an affordable entry point into electrospinning and electrospraying. It uses an unregulated high-voltage supply, nominally around 20 kV but variable unit-to-unit and run-to-run.
